Monthly Wrap

It’s Time to Unpack The Month of October!

Hello friends, Welcome or Welcome back to the blog!

What’s up everyone I’m back and ready to unpack the month of October.  I hope you are doing well enjoying some Fall activities, reading some good books, checking in with friends and family, and giving yourself some grace.

This post has taken me 4 days to write.  I really didn’t think it would be that much of an undertaking but unpacking all the goodies for the month has been a task. Halloween is over and it’s a little sad 🧟‍♀️…my decorations are down, but I do keep all the pumpkins, blackbirds, and candelabras.  The only thing I need is some moody Fall art.  Now that November is here, I’ll be back with more book reviews, decor, and Thanksgiving prep.

Here is a recap and voice intro for the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies

For this October wrap, I’m still including my Fall Season Bingo because I got a chance to tick a few things off my list.

Even though I created a Halloween “Movie” Bingo I still wanted to include this graphic.  It was a project of love and it took me all Summer to make so it qualifies to make the cut for October.

WHAT I’VE CHECKED OFF IN OCTOBER!

* Got these white Doc Martins

*Decorated for Fall Halloween (now back to Fall)

*Saw Take 6 at the Carlye Room in DC, and Jessie Ware at the Lincoln Theater also in DC

*Got the Best of Sade album for my Birthday

*Picked up several pumpkins from my local garden center.  I’m not near any pumpkin patches

I did read a few books and hauled some books so scroll down the page to see that.

My Halloween Playlist

I started listening to my “Halloween” playlist in early October.  Yes, it has all the classic Halloween songs, like Thriller, and Monster Mash, but I’ve also added in a few other bands like The Specials, The Cramps, Blue Oyster Cult, and Siouxsie and The Banshees, and of course some Rolling Stones for that moody vibe. Here is a link to Tidal where you can preview all the songs.

What Did I Watch in October…EVERYTHING!

I celebrate Halloween all month long, so Bianca and I have been watching all the movies this month and taking advantage of the retro channels and their lineup as well. This is what I saw (that was new to me) in October.  Of course, these will have to go onto a Halloween list in the future.

Insidious: The Red Door
The Uninvited (1944)

Good Reads Challenge, Book Hauls, What I Finished, and What I’m Reading

I finished my 2023 Good Reads Challenge which was great, but I still haven’t stopped reading.  I’ll just keep adding more as I finish them for this year.  I’ve already made my 2024 Good Reads Challenge list and I can’t wait to share that at a later time.

Currently, I’m reading At Bertram’s Hotel by Agatha Christie.  What I finished this month was The Lake House, A Head Full of Ghosts, and The Horror at Pleasant Brook. I can’t seem to get through Kill River, and it’s quite boring even though it rated well.  I’m 56% through this book and nothing is happening.  It’s like an 80s horror movie at a summer camp with little to be desired.  I’ll pick it back up eventually but I want to get into some mysteries for November.

I have hauled a few books in October and I can’t wait to tuck in.  I know I won’t finish them all this year, but if I get through at least two I’m good.  Here’s what I hauled.

Leslie F*cking Jones, Episode Thriteen, Murder Your Employer, The Cousins, The Night She Disappeared

Podcast Series Update

I still haven’t started Season 3 of the podcast due to time constraints, travel, work, and family issues that all got dumped on my plate at the same time.  I would love to continue when time allows but we will see.  Currently, I have a backlog of books to review for the podcast so I’m hoping to get back to it soon.  Here is a link for Season 2.

Well, Friends, I think I’ve covered everything in this round-up. Thanks so much for visiting and being a part of my little corner of the world and supporting this series.  It means the world to me.  Don’t forget to follow and subscribe to my little piece of happiness. — Peace
