Product Reviews, Hauls and All The Things!

Hello friends …Welcome or welcome back to the blog!

“I am comfortable living life abundantly on my own terms.” —The Good Trade

Hello beautiful people, and how are you?  I hope you are doing well, sticking with those good habits for 2024, getting plenty of rest, staying hydrated, and giving yourself some grace.

I’m back today with an update from a post I did in January about “New Products to Try for 2024.”  I’ve had some retail therapy and purchased a few things for myself before I close my wallet for the next few months.

AG1 (Athletic Greens) Final Review

THOUGHTS
In review, I can’t say if I noticed a difference after two months, but maybe that’s how it interacts with my body.  I noticed a slight boost in my energy levels (AM), but I still have that slump at 2 pm, and by the time 4 pm hits, I can’t keep my eyes open.  AG 1 has been an added supplement because I stopped taking my regular multivitamins, and I just relied on the impressive ingredients in this product.

I CANCELLED IT
So why did I cancel my subscription?  That would have to do with the $79.99 price tag per month.  Hella expensive for a green powder, so I can’t tell if it’s helping me.

There is no free shipping for members, so add that on, and my total was a whopping $92 per month.  Not to mention the horrible taste of cocoa and earth, so I also bought pineapple coconut water and tart cherry juice to mix with it and mask that awful taste.  The powder is also gritty (or sandy, depending on who’s saying it), and not only did I have to shake it, but I also used my frother to help mix it.

With your first purchase, you get a nice canister to keep it in, a metal scoop, and a shaker bottle. While the top is metal, the bottle is plastic, and we all know that most plastics (or microplastics) contain PFAS, which is known to cause several different medical issues, so what am I taking instead?

Next up, “LIVE IT UP”

Live it Up is the new supplement that I’m trying out in a few days (when I’ve used the last of my Ag 1), and it’s a fraction of the price coming in at $39.99 if you’re a monthly subscriber. I chose the wild berry flavor because (according to the reviews) the green is minty. Great for tea or gum but not in my green superfood powder.

I’m all about giving some things a try to help my overall mental and physical health, and because ya’ll are my homies here is a coupon code to get 10% off your first order.

Miracle Balm (Jones Road Haul)

Let’s start with …this is not a paid affiliate. I purchase this balm with my own coins.

I finally purchased the Jones Road Miracle Balm and a few other goodies.  Now, mind you, when I did the skin quiz, it recommended two balms (the shade pictured) and a highlighter balm.  Since I was a newbie, I didn’t want to sink my money into two products, so the base was what I purchased.

REVIEW
It’s more of a skin tint moisturizer.  It absorbs well, although I haven’t figured out the best way to apply it other than to use my fingers and a dabbing motion.  I only use this from my temples to my cheeks to give my skin some color, and so far, I like it. I thought it would leave my skin oily, but honestly, it wears well throughout the day.  It’s not heavy, and it hasn’t stained my clothes, although if you use your fingers and touch something, you will see the balm come off.

I also purchased the Jones Road Mascara.  This is my first mascara tube in years because I’m constantly rubbing my eyes, so I figured, why bother?  It works ok.  It’s not smudge-proof, but it looks good. (Dang, I wish I had photos, but I’m in a hurry in the morning ya’ll) I will say that it lasts all day, and if I happen to rub my eyes, it’s noticeable.  If I were into mascara, I would probably try a better product, but I wanted to try something new.  (Hey…trial and error).

So the balm is a yes, but the mascara is an ehh)

BEST ITEM FROM THE HAUL!

Konical C35 Af2, 35mm Manual Camera (Vintage 80s)

I talked about this camera in my Shoot Some Film Post and purchased it at a steal for $38. The flash is broken, which is not an issue for me because in all the years I’ve shot film, I’ve never used it because it washes out the picture.  I’m so in love.

Also got some Dracula 35mm and Wolfman 35mm Film

Friends, I would like to add another disclaimer.  This latest shopping excursion is not typical for me.  I plan larger hauls of clothing, home decor, and beauty products twice yearly.  I take pride in my appearance and living well because I know that self-care is not a selfish act and everyone deserves to treat themself to something.  So, whether you spend $20 or $120, you are worth it.

I am living a life of my choosing. – The Good Trade

Have you tried any new products? or Purchased those shoes that you’ve been stalking for a long time?  (LOL) Let me know in the comments, as I would love to hear what you purchased. Thanks so much for hanging out with me today.   Peace

DEFINITIONS

Polyfluoroalkyl Substances – Known as PFAS
Research links PFAS to health problems, including kidney and testicular cancer, liver and thyroid problems, reproductive problems, pregnancy-induced high blood pressure, low birth weight, and increased risk of birth defects, among others. PFAS has also been linked to changes in cholesterol levels and in the timing of puberty. Evidence of PFAS impacts on immune function is another growing concern, and studies have found some PFAS may lower vaccine effectiveness. (Source: EPA)
