Coming up this month…
Week #1 – Maniac Matriarch Week [Days 1-5]
Week #2 – The Last Recording Week [Days 6-11]
Week #3 – The Witching Hour Week [Days 12-17]
Week #4 – The Brain Buffet Week [Days 18-24]
Week #5 – Black Horror Rising Week [Days 25-31]
You’ve reached the end of Maniac Matriarch Week!
That’s a wrap. This week was dedicated to the women who hold their families together—until they’re pushed too far. These matriarchs are fiercely protective, relentlessly determined, and just a little (or a lot) unhinged when it comes to defending the people they love or settling old scores. The phrase “hell hath no fury” doesn’t even begin to cover it. Whether they’re demanding loyalty, seeking revenge, or making sure everything goes their way, these women prove that crossing the family matriarch is almost always a very bad idea.
DAY #5
MOVIE: Pearl, 2022
Rated: R
IMDb: Rating: 7.0
Genre: Psychological Drama, Horror, Coming-of-Age
Starring: Mia Goth✨David Corenswet ✨Tandi Wright
SYNOPSIS:
Trapped on her family’s isolated farm, Pearl must tend to her ailing father under the bitter and overbearing watch of her devout mother. Lusting for a glamorous life like she’s seen in the movies, Pearl finds her ambitions, temptations, and repressions all colliding in this stunning, technicolor-inspired origin story of X’s iconic villain.
**THOUGHTS:** This is the only film in this trilogy that I haven’t seen, but I have watched *X* and *MaXXXine*, both of which I really enjoyed. All three films are connected as part of a single horror trilogy, with Mia Goth taking on different characters in each installment. While each character has their own story, they all seem to share the same unsettling ambition, making this trilogy one I’m excited to finally complete. [TRAILER]
“The truth is, I’m not a good person.”
