Welcome to the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies
Quote for Halloween
“Dead people are notoriously bad at returning calls.” – Wednesday

Hello Friends, and welcome to Day #6 of the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies, 2026. In this (Blog-tober) series, I will post every day for 31 days in October. This year I’m continuing the movie series with a new theme each week.
Friends, we’ve entered Week #2 of the Blog-Tober series, and I’m glad you’re still with me. Check out my Day#1 intro.
For a recap of years past, check out 2023 and 2025. 👈🏾
This week is titled “The Last Recording”📼.
And so it begins….
Found footage 🎞️ horror is a different kind of scare because it feels grounded in reality. It often features actors who weren’t mainstream at the time (depending on when it was filmed), which makes everything feel just a little more believable. It’s also a style that’s nearly impossible to recreate, which is why Blair Witch II never captured the same magic as the original.
That shaky handheld camera, low-budget look, and imperfect filming only add to the feeling that maybe you’re watching something you weren’t supposed to see. Today’s movie…
I had so much fun putting this list together because there are only two new films I haven’t seen. (I have since seen both movies 😊)
DAY #6
MOVIE: The Blair Witch Project, 1999
IMDb: Rating: 6.4
Genre: Found Footage Horror, Folk Horror
Starring: Heather Donahue ✨ Michael C. Williams ✨ Joshua Leonard
SYNOPSIS: 🕯️
Found video footage tells the story of three film students (Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, Michael C. Williams) who travel to a small town to collect documentary footage about the Blair Witch, a legendary local murderer. Over several days, the students interview townspeople and gather clues to support the tale’s veracity. But the project takes a frightening turn when the students get lost in the woods and begin hearing horrific noises. [TRAILER]
“I’m scared to close my eyes. I’m scared to open them”.
THOUGHTS: This film was ahead of its time, in my eyes. I first saw it in 2001, and it took me two days to watch because I found it so disturbing. There was no gore and no real violence—just this overwhelming sense of disorientation and dread as we followed the film students. That feeling of being right there with them, with no idea what was happening or where they were going, was what made the film so unsettling.
I hope you enjoyed your Day #6 movie post; stay tuned for Day #7.
