My Five Christmas Holiday To-Do’s

Happy December everyone, and welcome to the blog.

I hope you’re doing well, enjoying some holiday festivities, not stressing about shopping, and taking the time to slow down.

Today’s blog is about all those new things I want to try for the Christmas Holiday. I don’t need a reason or a season to make a list but the holidays are always extra special. Also, I don’t care for the term “bucket list” and that’s mainly because of the premise behind what a bucket list really is. A new generation has warped and morphed it to all those things you MUST do.

Just like for my fall post I don’t believe that carving pumpkins, going on a hayride, and drinking hot chocolate are things I must do before I die…hence a buck list. When I think of those things I think of big-ticket items like traveling the world, starting a business, or vacating alone.

But for the sake of this post, there are a few new things that I add every year that are simple at best but great fun for me. It’s not so much that I need to do these things but more so these are things I want to try or I’ve only done once.

My Five Christmas Holiday To Do

There’s one thing you can always set your watch by and that’s me decorating for the holiday.  This doesn’t require thought or planning, it’s just a matter of how fast I get them up. (LOL)

BUY A HOLIDAY ALBUM (VINYL)

This has quickly become a thing as I build back my album collection. I purchase a new vinyl holiday album to add to my collection.  I should also say that my new Crosley stereo system should arrive next week so that’s an extra special gift.

BAKE A HOLIDAY CAKE

I bake cookies every year and they are usually the standard (sugar, molasses, and chocolate chip).  I’m still making the sugar and molasses cookies but this year I’m trying a cake. I know a cake may not seem like a big deal but for a person that doesn’t bake it will be quite the task.

I don’t have any cake pans, cake storage, or a stand mixer, so I do need a few things, but my Mom never used a stand mixer.  She had a handheld mixer and that was it, but everything came out delicious.

NEW HOLIDAY PUZZLE

A new holiday puzzle also makes my shortlist. It’s such a fun relaxing thing to do, although last year’s Peanuts puzzle didn’t get finished until January.

When you have all that negative space it takes quite some time. This year we will be working on this Dashing All The Way puzzle that I got from Hallmark.

READ A HOLIDAY MYSTERY

This will truly be a task because I have a hard time getting through books during the holiday season. Since I finished my Good Reads Challenge I’ve been coasting but this year I want to read one quick novel.

Hercule Poirot’s Christmas is on my list.  Let’s see if I can get through it.

NEW HOLIDAY GAME

I’m not sure what this will be.  Last year we played a Holiday Bingo, but I didn’t like the movie, so I didn’t pay attention. If you show me a Hallmark Christmas movie I’m sure to not pay attention or fall asleep because they are all the same to me.

So maybe a whole new game like a Christmas Murder Mystery, or the Bingo game with a different movie.

Thanks so much for checking out the blog today.  Are you making anything special for the holiday, or participating in any other activities, please share them in the comments.  I hope everyone has a great day and don’t forget to like and subscribe.  — Happy Holidays.
