31 Days of Halloween: Day #10 …Hocus Pocus Vintage Halloween Decor

Hello precious and welcome to Day #10 of the 31 Days of Halloween.

Halloween Quote
“Halloween wraps fear in innocence, as though it were a slightly sour sweet. Let terror, then, be turned into a treat.” – Nicholas Gordon

We are coasting through the month of October, but can we slow it down to a crawl?  I can do two months of October if you asked me.  But that’s neither here nor there…LOL.  How are you today?  I hope you’re doing well, staying hydrated, enjoying some fun Fall activities, and checking off your to-do lists.

Today I’m sharing Hocus Pocus vintage Halloween decor.

Halloween decor (to me) is like what I see in older movies.  It’s a time left in the past.  Pieces are old and left in disrepair, there are vintage bottles, antiques, dead flowers, cobwebs, faded photos, and items that are macabre vs your everyday light and bright decor. This to me embodies everything about Halloween but I know my opinion is my own.

While browsing on Pinterest I saw this image from an unknown blog or site and I thought…YES, this is what I want to recreate. Everything I’ve found is from various sources.  I pulled items from Crate & Barrell, Walmart, and Etsy that I’ve listed below.

As soon as you say the word “vintage” the price tag seems to go up on your run-of-the-mill thrift items.  On my last visit to the thrift store in September the one thing I was looking for was vintage picture frames and tapered candle holders.  I was also looking for things to incorporate into my Halloween decor and I came up almost empty.  I managed to get 3 frames and 2 candle holders but stores were lacking in the rest or I was just late to the game.

I figured the next best bet would be Etsy, but since when did candle holders, and mirrors get to be so damn expensive.  It hasn’t stopped me from putting together this list but I know these items can be a whole lot cheaper and sellers are banking on folks (this season) doing a more vintage creepy Halloween vs. the in-your-face version with signs and “Boo” decor.

Additional items to create the look are super moss, spider webbing, miniature skulls, and potion bottles can be found at Micheals or Joanne’s Crafts. Currently, most of these items are 50% off (or more) to make way for the Christmas Holiday decor.  (It’s way too early, I know…LOL)

I know I said I wasn’t buying anything but I got some simple tapered glass candle holders from Hobby Lobby and one more purchase at World Market for a candelabra. Etsy (as you will see on my board) was much more money than a new retailed item.  Crazy right?

You know loopy folks like me that are stupid about Halloween and will buy things no matter what.
