MONDAY: 52 List for Calm #14

Posted on August 3, 2020August 4, 2020 by LifeByWyetha

Hola Friends and “Welcome” to my blog. Thank you for landing in my little corner of the blogosphere, and I hope you consider subscribing.

If you’re already subscribed thank you for coming back again and spending some time with me.

Hello beautiful people and happy Monday!  Did you have a good weekend?  Can you believe August is here? It’s crazy right.  The weeks are blending together, and finding separation among the days and some diversity in the weekend is getting harder but we are getting it done.

This week again I’m giving you a brief update via podcast, post-cast, life-cast, home-life-cast (I have no clue what to call it).  I’ll have to come up with a catchy name for this, but no matter … check out this brief update.

Today I’m still working through my Calm journal and moving to List #14. If your new to my blog and this series, check out the backstory and information on Moorea Seal’s 52 List Series —–> RIGHT HERE.

Let’s get into list #14 …

52Calm_14

List #14 is about CREATING POSITIVE REMINDERS to help give you a feeling of calm in your space.  This exercise comes at a time of great need because I’m carrying a lot of stress and anxiety in this current climate.

I’ve spoken about how stressful my move was, in dealing with deceitful individuals, but the combination of the pandemic is also weighing heavy on me.  I’m thankful for many things and finding another apartment in 30-days is one of them.

I do feel in my heart that is NOT where I was supposed to land, but because I needed it, God provided. What I realize now is that God wants more for me.

When I think about my childhood it evokes happy feelings, because it was a happy and safe place with no cares of the world or any responsibilities.  That’s a good feeling to have every now and then, but at some point, the world sets in reminding you that youthful things are somehow wrong.

How do we come so far away from the simple things that use to make us happy in life? Where rollerskating, riding bikes all day, waiting for that ice cream truck, or staying out until the streetlights came on was the best time ever. We made games out of nothing, boys were everything and that was all I needed in my little world.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”…Corinthians 13:11

This is hard …

I’ve tried to find calm in my space and it’s been hard to pin down anything that evokes those feelings.  Currently, there is nothing in my home that I can pin down that evokes calm, or maybe I’m not looking hard enough.  There are things like yoga, meditation, or watching a favorite show that gives me that feeling but no objects.

So my goal this week is to find something that brings calmness to my heart and soul and allow that object to be my anchor.  I also want this exercise to be a stress-free one because I have a habit of adding undue stress when I work on certain tasks. I need to keep reminding myself that “this is for you, and no one else”.

What calms your mind …

Do you have trouble calming your mind? What tools do you have that help you ease your mind in these stressful times?  Check-in with your senses, and start with a simple commitment to yourself to be your best self.  With that, I’ll end this here.  Again … thanks for hanging with me today, and as always. — Know Thyself —

Know Thyself Art …

It’s been my mantra (or manifesto) at the end of every chat to say “Know Thyself”.  The phrase is not a new concept but one I’ve adapted and held near to me.  Know Thyself has many meanings to people, for me it means … know your limitations,  know who you are, know your boundaries… know thyself.  So of course I made this little piece.

It’s not elaborate, just the simple words on a white background. Feel free to download this 8 1/2 x 11 image for yourself.  If a quote or a few words motivate you then write it down, make it an affirmation or turn it into a printable so you can see it every day.
