SYNOPSIS: A drive-in favorite, this sci-fi classic follows teenagers Steve (Steven McQueen) and his best girl, Jane (Aneta Corseaut), as they try to protect their hometown from a gelatinous alien life form that engulfs everything it touches. The first to discover the substance and live to tell about it, Steve and Jane witness the blob destroying an elderly man and grow to a terrifying size. But no one else has seen the goo, and policeman Dave (Earl Rowe) refuses to believe the kids without proof.

MY RATING: (★★★★★) This movie is a classic, so what’s not to love.  It’s interesting that this movie is rated low on the audience meter, but critics love it because they appreciate for that it is. Everyone is looking for a movie to jump out of the screen but that’s not what you’ll get here.  And you have to appreciate it for what it is.  I mean come on ….it’s Steve McQueen before the cigarette and the floppy hat, and well before the famous like … “Make my day“.

The Blob is one of those cult-classic films and if your looking to cross anything off your list definitely add this movie.  It’s more Sci-fi than horror, meteoroid from space touches down.  Old man touches said meteor and spreads the dreaded BLOB. No blood, no gore, it’s not excessively violent (hey…this was the 50s) there’s just goo and slime, that really looks like a jello mold.

And let’s not forget the best of this movie …the awesome theme song.

With that said … Happy Viewing and enjoy the movie!
