Welcome to the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies
Quote for Halloween
“It’s Halloween, everyone’s entitled to one good scare.” – Halloween (1978)
Hello Friends, and welcome to Day #12 of the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies, 2026. In this (Blog-tober) series, I’m featuring a different film every day for 31 days in October. Each week has a different theme, so if you missed weeks #1 and #2, don’t fret, kiddies; let me catch you up. Check out Day #5 and Day #11 for a recap of the first two weeks. If you want to go deeper into the rabbit hole of years past, here are 2023 and 2025. 👈🏾
We now enter….
“The Witching Hour”🔮 🐈⬛.
More about …The Witching Hour
This week is all about witches, and I’ve only touched the tip of the broomstick 🧹 for this theme, because there are literally hundreds to choose from that I deem worthy of a looksee. From covens to cauldrons to creepy neighbors, babysitters, and school drama, these movies cover the gamut of all things witchy. With that, today’s feature.
DAY #12
MOVIE: Hereditary, 2018
IMDb: Rating: 7.3
Genre: Folk Horror, Psychological Horror, Supernatural Horror
Starring: ✨ Toni Collette ✨ Milly Shapiro ✨ Gabriel Byrne
SYNOPSIS: 🕯️
When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter and grandchildren begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry, trying to outrun the sinister fate they have inherited. [trailer]
“I never wanted to be your mother”.
THOUGHTS: When my daughter and I first saw this film, it was unnerving. Some idiot in our row kept laughing at certain parts—you know, stupid boys trying to pretend they’re not scared or completely freaked out by laughing. Why?!?!
Needless to say, I haven’t gone back to watch Hereditary since that first time, and there’s a reason. It absolutely deserves its 7.3 on IMDb and 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. You want scary? You want disturbing? You want deeply unsettling? This is it!
I hope you enjoyed your Day #12 movie post; stay tuned for Day #13.
