October is going by so quickly, and I’m really trying to slow down and enjoy the season, which also happens to be my birthday month. Yes, I’m a year older, hopefully much wiser, and just a little more cynical…which I don’t apologize for, because it’s honest, and that’s about where my Geiger counter is these days.
But now, let’s continue with the last day of Week #3 and…

The final day of The Last Recording….
Found footage 🎞️ horror is a different kind of scare because it feels grounded in reality. It often features actors who weren’t mainstream at the time (depending on when it was filmed), which makes everything feel just a little more believable. It’s also a style that’s nearly impossible to recreate, which is why Blair Witch II never captured the same magic as the original.
That shaky handheld camera, low-budget look, and imperfect filming only add to the feeling that maybe you’re watching something you weren’t supposed to see. Today’s movie…

SYNOPSIS: Five friends are stalked by a group of mysterious and disturbed individuals while on a road trip looking for the ultimate haunted house attraction.
THOUGHTS: This one ends on an unsettling note because, in found-footage horror, the lighting often depends on whoever is holding the camera. Take that away, and you’re basically in the dark, which is even more jarring. You’re no longer relying on what you can see but tuning into what you can hear—and trust me, that’s not any better. [TRAILER] 🎬
This one is strange, to say the least, and while it may not be the highest-rated movie, it has all the elements that make found footage horror so much fun to watch.
