Hello Friends, and welcome to Day #8 of the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies. I hope you’re enjoying my Blog-tober series this year as we continue this week’s theme.
Friends, I hope you’re adding some festive decor to your home, enjoying some fall drinks, and doing some pre-Halloween activities. Found footage 🎞️ horror is a different kind of scare because it feels grounded in reality. It often features actors who weren’t mainstream at the time (depending on when it was filmed), which makes everything feel just a little more believable. It’s also a style that’s nearly impossible to recreate, which is why Blair Witch II never captured the same magic as the original.
That shaky handheld camera, low-budget look, and imperfect filming only add to the feeling that maybe you’re watching something you weren’t supposed to see. Today’s movie…

💡 THOUGHTS: This has got to be one of the best ideas ever—centering a horror movie around COVID, when no one could leave their homes. And, of course, there’s always that **one person** who doesn’t take things seriously.
This one is creepy—NO, I mean really creepy—because of the juxtaposition between what you’re seeing and how it was filmed. You’re watching everything through the perspective of a Zoom call, so we, the audience, can see what’s happening behind someone before the other participants can. That limited view makes everything happening in the background even more unsettling.
