“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”

Hello Friends! Welcome (or welcome back) to the blog.
So how are you? I hope you’re taking care of yourself and getting out of your head when you can with some fun activities. Make sure to stay hydrated. And for the love of all things …” put down that phone!” (LOL)

Friends, I love Fridays, and hell, everyone does. The end of the workweek, and maybe some bullshit. The opportunity to get some rest, make a really good breakfast, or just relax.
Today I want to share a few things I set in motion on Friday (really Thursday afternoon) and how I unpack, physically and mentally, for the weekend. It’s not long enough, for sure, so I want to enjoy every minute of it.

👜 Unpacking The Week
I know it seems counterintuitive, but I always unpack my workbag and swap things into my lighter crossbody. My crossbody means “weekend look-out”. I take out the junk, empty the trash, store my headphones, wipe down my bag, and put it in the closet. It’s the finality of the thing that really locks in the purpose.
I also do the same thing for my lunch bag, by removing extraneous papers, getting all those containers in the dishwasher, and such.
👖Operation: Put It Away
The other thing that’s become the catch-all is the chair in my room, (it’s really a place holder until I get something nice, but after work I tend to put my clothes across the back to let them air out before I put them pack in my closet (unless they need washing).
Around my bed also gets it so I put away all the magazines, take any water cups to the kitchen, put away the lotions and lip balms, wipe it down, and I’m ready to start my Friday night uncluttered. (LOL)
🍽️ Much ado about my dining table
My dining room table and I are in a constant battle of wills. 🤣 In my mind, it’s supposed to stay beautifully clear and untouched like something out of a home décor magazine, but in reality? It becomes the unofficial landing pad for mail, grocery items that “I’ll put away in a minute,” random notebooks, pens, receipts, and whatever else follows me through the front door.
In that spirit, I’m reclaiming the table. I want to come downstairs Saturday morning to a clean surface, no clutter, no mystery piles, just peace, coffee, and the illusion that I absolutely have my life together.
🚪The Entryway…Where Shoes & Sanity Go to Die
Welly-welp…this is the shoe place. 🤣 The landing strip. The “drop your stuff before you even think about sitting down” zone. Shades? Here. House keys? Here. Random bag from the trunk that absolutely did not need to come inside? Also here.
And listen…outside shoes come OFF at the door. Immediately. I live in the city, and we are not bringing any mystery grime, sidewalk juice, or public-transportation funk into the house. Absolutely not. 😭 But the goal here isn’t perfection — it’s peace. The entryway may not look like a Pinterest board, but it’s tidy, functional, and no longer screaming for help when I walk through the door. 🚪✨
🧴The Beauty Shuffle
And last, but certainly not least, is the bathroom vanity — home of the hair products, serums, lip balms, and other extraneous items that somehow multiply throughout the week. 🤣
Ok…these things live on the vanity because I use them every single day. The things that roll I’ll put away daily, but the rest sorta feel wildly unnecessary, only to pull them all back out that morning.
So instead of pretending I’m one of those people with an untouched spa-like vanity at all times, I opt for a realistic tidy. A quick wipe-down with a water wipe, and everything goes back into the drawer until the next week’s chaos resumes. ✨
Now I know this seems like a crazy amount of things just to relax on Friday, but it’s really not. Everything I’ve mentioned takes me about an hour because it’s intentional. I can also break it up and work downstairs when I get in, and do upstairs before bed.
I try to be purposeful with my time, and this is one of the things that allows me to enjoy my weekend without the mess or the clutter.
With that, I’ll end this post here and kick off my weekend. Thank you for visiting today. I hope you had a productive week, be safe, and until next time…in the futher we go…꩜ – Peace
