My First, My Last, My Everything: Those Small Pleasures

Posted on May 14, 2025June 4, 2025 by LifeByWyetha

Hello Friends, and welcome to the blog today.

“Hope has far more hooks than fear, far more capacity to tear her apart from the inside.” – Kiersten White, Mister Magic

Friends, I hope you are doing well. I won’t preach, but please take care and get plenty of rest, take your vitamins, and drink plenty of water.

Yes, the title of this post is a Barry White song, but this isn’t about a song. I’m sharing and speaking about those small pleasures that bring me joy.  No matter how insignificant, if it brings you peace, settles your nerves, or is a form of self-care, it’s all important in the scheme of things.

I have several, but I will keep my list at 10. Consider this a journal prompt for you (if you need one): 📝 Write down 10 things that relax (no matter how small) you and bring you joy.

That first sip of coffee in the morning is the best feeling in my universe. I love my medium roast with Silk Almond creamer. It’s everything.

I love the feeling of walking into my home after work. Everything from that point on screams relaxation. Sometimes, I’ll sit and stare at the wall (LOL), but ultimately, it’s nice to be in a place I’ve curated and made comfy.

A charcoal face mask is cooling, relaxing, and feels fantastic. I’ve been using Origins masks for years because of all the benefits, but it’s a mini-me day at least twice a week.

Evening showers are the most relaxing thing ever.  After a meeting or a conference, a hot shower helps to ease the pain in my joints from being on my feet all day.

Afternoon naps are a special treat and underrated.  I don’t always get the opportunity, but if I’m tired and I’ve had a great lunch, a 15-minute power nap is just what the body needs.

Orange sunsets in Summer remind me of a slower time.  People seem to be more at ease, neighbors converse, kids play outside, and the sounds of the birds and my environment make me reminisce about a time when I was younger.

Evening walks on cool days are a great way to unwind (for me).  I get to see my neighborhood, look at the houses for sale, and pet some dogs along the way.

Lavender-strawberry black tea always cools me right down.  I get one [on occasion] on my way to [or from] work, but as soon as I get some lavender syrup, I can enjoy them [at home] all summer long.

A good audible listen is a monster way to unplug from the world and wind down.  I love an hour of quiet time, and listening to a good thriller is one of my favorite things to do.

Comfy jeans feel so good when you slip into them.  It’s that favorite pair that you’ve worn so they’re just right, and now they are perfect for any occasion.

I’m always looking for ways to slow down and enjoy what’s right in front of me.  We sometimes forget that we need time to ourselves in our everyday grind of work, errands, and family activities.  I’m here to tell you to take that time.  Whether it’s an hour or 10 minutes, you’ll be glad you did.

Friends, I’ll end here. Thanks so much for visiting the blog today.  Don’t forget to follow or subscribe. — Peace —
