Hello, family, and welcome or welcome back to the blog.

― Sylvia Plath

I hope everyone is doing well, enjoying your Summer 🌞, and experiencing some great adventures. Make sure to stay hydrated, check in on loved ones, and for your soul and sanity…PUT DOWN YOUR PHONE. 📱 (LOL)
I know we don’t like to think about Fall because it means the end of Summer, and I know folks love their Summer. But if you’ve been part of the LBW family for any amount of time, you’ll definitely learn one thing (or two) about me: Summer can kick rocks; Fall is my favorite child.
Yes, you’ve got the tasty drinks, the decor, the leaves…all the pumpkins, and of course, we’re rewarded with the fun, spooky Halloween season. But it’s everything about Fall that I love—all wrapped up in golds, burnt oranges, and cinnamon crust.
Since the season is almost upon us, there are a few little things I like to do around my house that make a big difference. I don’t have the wherewithal (or the energy, LOL) to clean my entire house at once, so over the next few weeks, I’ll be making little moves—freshening up a few areas, opening some windows, clearing things out, and making space for the season ahead.

Utensil drawers – This was a TODAY job because a rice bag exploded at some point, and I didn’t get it all, so it was time to clean all 4, clear some clutter, and reorganize everything. It took all of 20 minutes.
Windowsills – My steamer is always good for tackling this, and it is another task that takes two days. One day for the downstairs windowsills, and one for the upstairs. So when the weather is cooler. I can let in the fresh air without pollen, tree debris, and dirt.
Balcony Doors – Every time I see them, I cringe; they are so cloudy. In a previous post, I’ve gifted myself this handheld motorized squeegee that I can’t wait to try. I want to be able to see outside without looking through a summer’s worth of pollen and haze.
Fireplace Mantle – My mantle is this weird room divider that’s marble and metal. The marble is easy, but no matter how many times I wipe it down, it looks ashen. I’m hoping mineral oil will have it looking like new.
Carpet (high traffic areas) – I only ever have to tackle my entryway and the path to the kitchen. For some reason, this is where the dirt chooses to reside. It’s also strange because I NEVER wear my outside shoes inside my house. That’s a no-no.
Couch Cushions – I always wash these at least twice a year. The washing itself is quick; however, because I have to hang them to dry, that can take a minimum of 2 days.
Wallah! All Done!
On my telework days, I can tackle one thing at a time during my lunch break, with some tasks taking only about 30 minutes. It’s much easier to digest when I break things up this way. If I tried to do everything at once, it would easily turn into a two- or three-day project, and nobody wants that. What will take the longest are parts of the rug, which is definitely better saved for a Saturday or Sunday morning when I don’t have plans.
As the weeks go by and I knock these things out, I know I’m moving closer to the Fall season. I also realize this time of year gets busy—kids going back to school, school activities and sports, and work schedules picking up. Even my work gets busier in September, and October is already packed with blogging things.
So, I’m enjoying this little pocket of time while I have it. I can knock out a few things around the house, get everything feeling fresh for Fall, but still leave myself some time to simply be still.
That’s it for today, friends. How are you enjoying your summer thus far? Are you excited for the Fall season, and how do you prep? I’d love to hear. Until next time, don’t forget to subscribe or follow along. — Duces ✌🏽
