Hello and welcome back to the blog.
I hope everyone is doing well. Staying hydrated, getting plenty of rest, and being good to yourself.

I’ve recently been tasked with setting up my spare bedroom—which is technically still my daughter’s room, just without the furniture these days. My goal is to keep it simple and intentional so it doesn’t slowly morph into a catch-all storage closet (you know how quickly that can happen).
If you’ve been visiting my blog for a while, you already know my philosophy on decorating: it doesn’t take much to make a space feel good. A room can come together beautifully with just a few thoughtful elements—good lighting, a piece or two of art, and some well-placed décor items. Sometimes that’s all it takes to give a space personality without cluttering it up.
But since I need this to be functional, I’m taking things a little further.
I’ll also need to make the closet do a bit of double duty as storage. It will hold the room’s linens, an extra blanket or two, and still leave space to hang clothing. If there’s room, I’d love to add a small dresser, but that will depend on how everything fits once I move my desk and TV into the space.
The ensuite bathroom will stay mostly the same—just a few simple touches, like art on the walls and a fresh bath rug, to keep it feeling polished and complete.
Even though I’ve curated an inspiration board for the room, my hope is to thrift at least 75% of what I need. Lighting, art, and rugs will probably be the few things I end up purchasing new, but otherwise I’d love to source pieces secondhand. The goal is to keep the space light, cozy, and inviting—and still make it feel like home for my daughter.

It’s a bit overwhelming and hard to know where to begin, but the good thing is there’s no real timeline for this project. I’ve mostly been window shopping so far—snapping photos for reference, browsing my usual thrift stores, and just seeing what turns up before I venture into Facebook Marketplace. I know people rave about it, but personally, I’ve never had much luck there. Still, time will tell.
The goal is to stay within a reasonable budget. I’m willing to spend a little where it’s necessary—especially for the pieces that will make the room truly functional—but otherwise I’d love to thrift as much as possible. I have a feeling that once everything starts coming together, the space is going to turn out really nicely.
