31 Days of Halloween in Movies: Day #21 (Arachnophobia, 1990)

Posted on October 21, 2025October 26, 2025 by LifeByWyetha

Welcome back to the 31 Days of Halloween in movies.

 Quote for today
“I don’t speak ill of the dead.  It’s much more fun to demonize the living”. — Wednesday

I’m back for day 21 in the 31 Days of Halloween in movies series.  Are you enjoying the season?  Well, get up, get out, and do something fun.  Have a ridiculously sweet drink, carve a pumpkin, and enjoy the sights and smells of the season.

Horror Comedy Week!

Horror comedy is not limited to slasher horror, but can incorporate other themes, often weaving in moments of comedic relief—an essential balance when the subject matter becomes heavy. The humor breaks the tension, giving audiences a breather between the scares. Over the years, this blend has gained momentum, making the genre as popular as its more traditional counterpart.

🎬 About Today’s feature 🎬

Eight legs, two fangs, and an attitude. The suspense of Alien! The excitement of Jaws!”

Day #21

MOVIE: Arachnophobia
Director: Frank Marshall
Year: 1990
IMDB Rating:
Genre: Horror,  Creature-Feature, Comedy
Runtime: 1h 49m
Tomato 🍅 Meter:  93%
Starring: ✨ Jeff Daniels ✨ Harley Jane Kozak ✨ John Goodman

SYNOPSIS: After a nature photographer (Mark L. Taylor) dies on assignment in Venezuela, a poisonous spider hitches a ride in his coffin to his hometown in rural California, where arachnophobe Dr. Ross Jennings (Jeff Daniels) has just moved in with his wife, Molly (Harley Jane Kozak), and young son. As town residents start turning up dead, Jennings begins to suspect spiders, and must face his fears as he and no-nonsense exterminator Delbert McClintock (John Goodman) fight to stop a deadly infestation. [TRAILER]

MY RATING [0-5]: (✨4.5✨) This film is a classic that continues to crawl under your skin. While it may not be pure horror, it’s a creature feature through and through. Few things are as unsettling as spiders—always lurking in the corners, seemingly harmless… until they’re not. The film delivers genuine chills, and its slightly dated style only adds to its eerie charm.
