31 Days of Halloween in Movies: Day #20 (Totally Killer, 2023)

Posted on October 20, 2025October 26, 2025 by LifeByWyetha

Welcome back to the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies.

FROM WEDNESDAY
Wanna have some fun? I’m where fun goes to die.

Hello, friends! It’s a beautiful October day, and I know you’re enjoying the season.  I hope you are doing well, getting outside, and doing something festive.

It’s Horror-Comedy Week!

Friends, this marks Week 4, and this week is all about the Horror-Comedy genre. I can’t possibly share a month of movies (especially horror) without tapping into the funny side. Slasher horror often weaves in moments of comedic relief—an essential balance when the subject matter gets too heavy. The humor breaks the tension, giving audiences a breather between the scares. Over the years, this blend has gained momentum, making the genre as popular as its more traditional counterpart.

🍿🎬 About Today’s feature 🍿🎬

Movies can never take themselves too seriously, because “Murder is sooo 1987“. (LOL)

Day #20

MOVIE: Totally Killer
Director: Nahnatchka Khan
Year: 2023
IMDB Rating: 6.5
Genre: Slasher Horror, Teen Horror, Comedy
Runtime: 1h 43m
Tomato 🍅 Meter: 85%
Starring: ✨ Kiernan Shipka ✨ Olivia Holt ✨ Charlie Gillespie

SYNOPSIS: Thirty-five years after the shocking murder of three teens, the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer” returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim. Seventeen-year-old Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) ignores her overprotective mom’s (Julie Bowen) warning and comes face-to-face with the masked maniac and, on the run for her life, accidentally time-travels back to 1987, the year of the original killings. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, Jamie teams up with her teen mom (Olivia Holt) to take down the killer once and for all, before she’s stuck in the past forever. [TRAILER]

MY RATING [0-5]: (✨✨✨✨) Totally Killer might be goofy and campy, but that’s precisely what makes it work. Yes, there’s blood and gore, but it’s all wrapped in a tongue-in-cheek tone. I had a great time with it—it’s just plain fun.
