Welcome to the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies.
Hello Friends, and welcome to the kick-off of my 31 Days of Halloween. In this series, I will post every day for 31 days in October. Each year, I’ve focused this series on lists, music, lots of movies, décor, and games.

It’s Day #1 of “Blog-tober,” but before I get into the series. (A little backstory) In 2023, I set out on this ambitious quest. I have always participated in Blog-tober, but that year I decided to do something different. I wanted to share my love of horror movies, so my 31 Days of Halloween featured a different film every day. For a recap, click here.👈🏾
I want to say that the 2023 series was my most ambitious series on the blog to date, and this month is no exception. I’m back to my movie edition but a bit more structured, so let’s break down the next few weeks.
Week #1 – Psychological Horror
Week #2 – The Paranormal
Week #3 – Cult Classics
Week #4 – 2025 Horror Horror-Comedies
Week #5 – New Horror
At the end of each week, I’ll post fun games, trivia, decorating ideas, and book recommendations. I’ll recap and wrap on Sunday before heading into the following week.
For each movie, I’ll provide the general information (i.e., title, details, rating, and synopsis). I’ll also include a brief “here’s what I thought” of each one.
Now…About the Movies
These movies are in no particular order (other than the week) and will range from the 1960s to 2025. With that, I hope you can check back for all the movies and fun this season has to offer. So without further ado, let’s kick off this series.
Psychological Horror Movies Week
Day #1 – Misery
MOVIE: Misery
Rated: R
Director: Rob Riener
Year: 1990
IMDB Rating: 7.8
Genre: Psychological Thriller, Horror
Runtime: 1h 47m
Tomato 🍅 Meter: 91%
Cringe 🥴 meter : 5/10
Starring: James Caan ✨ Kathy Bates ✨ Richard Farnsworth ✨
SYNOPSIS:
After a serious car crash, novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), who claims to be his biggest fan. Annie brings him to her remote cabin to recover, where her obsession takes a dark turn when she discovers Sheldon is killing off her favorite character from his novels. As Sheldon devises escape plans, Annie grows increasingly controlling, even violent, as she forces the author to shape his writing to suit her twisted fantasies. [TRAILER]
MY RATING: (★★★★★) What’s not to love about this psychological thriller written by Stephen King, and Cathy Bates’ performance [“chef-kiss”💋] is amazing. There are some cringy scenes, but that’s a King movie in general, and anything less would be unacceptable. Of course, the book is better, but I still enjoy this movie today, and it will always stand the test of time.
Thanks for checking this post, and happy viewing!
