31 Days of Halloween in Movies: Day #23 (Happy Death Day)

Posted on October 23, 2025October 29, 2025 by LifeByWyetha

Welcome back to the 31 Days of Halloween in movies.

 from WEDNESDAY
“Your treacherous path is my walk in the park”. — Wednesday, Sn 2

I’m back for day 21 in the 31 Days of Halloween in movies series.  Are you enjoying the season?  Well, get up, get out, and do something fun.  Have a ridiculously sweet drink, carve a pumpkin, and enjoy the sights and smells of the season.

It’s Horror Comedy Week!

I have another movie for you today, as we’re nearing the end of a week in the horror-comedy genre. I’ve really enjoyed revisiting these films this week. While they share the familiar slasher vibe, the tone feels lighter due to the comedy woven into it. Some push the limits with R-rated violence, while others keep things PG-13, but either way, this quirky subgenre makes an excellent gateway for anyone starting their horror journey.

🎬 About Today’s feature 🎬

Get up. Live Your Day. Get Killed. AGAIN.

Day #23

MOVIE: Happy Death Day
Director: Christopher Landon
Year: 2017
IMDB Rating: 6.56
Genre: B-Horror,  Slasher-Horror
Runtime: 1h 36m
Tomato 🍅 Meter:  71%
Starring: ✨ Jessica Roth✨ Israel Broussard ✨ Ruby Modine

SYNOPSIS: Tree Gelbman is a blissfully self-centered collegian who wakes up on her birthday in the bed of a student named Carter. As the morning goes on, Tree gets the eerie feeling that she’s experienced the events of this day before. When a masked killer suddenly takes her life in a brutal attack, she once again magically wakes up in Carter’s dorm room unharmed. Now, the frightened young woman must relive the same day over and over until she figures out who murdered her.. [TRAILER]

MY RATING [0-5]: (✨4.5✨) I went in with mixed feelings, but this quirky, dark horror film won me over. It’s basically Groundhog Day meets a slasher flick, with the same character reliving their own death on repeat. Despite its PG-13 rating, it still manages to serve up plenty of scares and a good dose of fun.
