31 Days of Halloween: Day #17 – Movies That Will Have You Sleeping With The Light On

Posted on October 17, 2024January 5, 2025 by LifeByWyetha

Hello, friends, and welcome to the 31 Days of Halloween!

Halloween Quote
“All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” — Edgar Allan Poe, “A Dream Within a Dream”

It’s Day 17 of the series, and I can’t believe how fast my favorite month is flying by 🦇. It seems like it was just October 4th, and it’s gone.  I want it to slow down. (LOL) For my 2024 series, I’ve focused each week on something different, and this week is all about Halloween movies.  Today, I’m sharing some movies that will have you sleeping with the lights on.

*******

I’m not a hardcore Horron fan, but I love scary movies. Some even make me rethink why the hell I’m watching them. I don’t do body horror or torture (e.g., Human Centipede, Saw, Hostel), but I do like to be scared to a degree. These movies had me going, “WTF did I just watch?” And…maybe I’ll look at Gilmore Girls for a while. LOL So here is my shortlist.

Six Movies That Will Make You Sleep With the Lights On 🕯️

KEY:  🍅 = Tomatmeter

Hereditary (Trailer), 97% 🍅

This will have saying WTF.

hereditary

When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter and grandchildren begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry, trying to outrun the sinister fate they have inherited.

Sinister (Trailer) – 63% 🍅

A little disturbing.

Sinister

True-crime writer Ellison Oswald is in a slump; he hasn’t had a best seller in over 10 years and is becoming increasingly desperate for a hit. So, when he discovers the existence of a snuff film showing the deaths of a family, he vows to solve the mystery.

The Babadook (Trailer) – 98% 🍅

You’ll be looking at garments hanging in your home.

Babadook

Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia is at a loss. A disturbing storybook called “The Babadook” turns up at their house, and Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about coming to kill them both.

The Exorcist  (Trailer) – 78% 🍅

It is a classic film, taking home two Oscars.
The Exorcist

Loosely based on actual events, young Regan starts acting odd—levitating and speaking in tongues. Her worried mother seeks medical help, only to hit a dead end. A local priest, however, thinks the devil may seize the girl. The priest requests to perform an exorcism, and the church sends in an expert to help with the difficult job.

Hell House LLC (Trailer) – 73% 🍅

A documentary crew visits Hell House to investigate what really happened five years earlier when 15 people were killed during a haunted house tour.

Creepy as hell!

Hell House

Host  (Trailer) 99% 🍅

Six friends accidentally invite the attention of a demonic presence during an online séance and begin noticing strange occurrences in their homes.

This is a good one!

Well, friends, this ends my post today. I’m unsure if most people are up to checking these out, but if you are, let me know in the comments.  (I know I have some horror fans out there)   This week is almost up, but I have just a few more lists for you, so stay tuned.  Peace and Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🍬🦇💀🧡
