31 Days of Halloween in Movies: Day #17 (Carrie, 1976)

Posted on October 17, 2025October 22, 2025 by LifeByWyetha

Welcome back to the 31 Days of Halloween in Movies.

šŸ›ø Would You Rather? šŸ›ø
See a ghost or meet a real vampire?

Friends, it’s Day 17 of the 31 Days of Halloween in movies—and my lovely Blog-tober.Ā  I’ve been enjoying creating this series, and I hope you are as well.Ā  It takes months of pre-planning and prep, but it’s a labor of love.Ā  Make sureĀ to get plenty of rest, check out aĀ Halloween playlist, and enjoy the falling leaves, scents, sights, and sounds of this time.

This week of “Cult Classics”Ā has been a trip down memory lane of movies I was too chicken-shit to watch when I was younger, but have grown to appreciate (and become a fan as an adult). Since it’s Friday, make this your Midnight Movie Madness film to watch.

šŸŽ¬ About Today’s feature šŸŽ¬

“I can see your dirty pillows.” And if you’ve seen this, you’ll know the context behind this quote.

Day #17

MOVIE: Carrie
Director: Brian De Palma
Year: 1976
IMDB Rating: 7.4 (R)
Genre: Supernatural, Teen-Horror
Runtime: 1h 38m
Tomato šŸ… Meter:Ā  94%
Starring: ✨ Sissy Spacek ✨ Piper Laurie ✨ Amy Irving

SYNOPSIS:Ā In this chilling adaptation of Stephen King’s horror novel, withdrawn and sensitive teen Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) faces taunting from classmates at school and abuse from her fanatically pious mother (Piper Laurie) at home. When strange occurrences start happening around Carrie, she begins to suspect that she has supernatural powers. Invited to the prom by the empathetic Tommy Ross (William Katt), Carrie tries to let her guard down, but things eventually take a dark and violent turn. [TRAILER]

MY RATING [0-5]: (✨4.8✨) We’re digging in deep in the video bin for this flick today.Ā Carrie is a cult classic—based on Stephen King’s debut novel—and who doesn’t love seeing Sissy Spacek and John Travolta (well get’er done then) in this flick? While the book dives much deeper into the story, the film still stands out. It might not be the best thing you’ll ever see, but it set the stage for the whole ā€œmean girl horror revengeā€ subgenre that followed.

Check out this movie trivia game for the Scream franchise. (Which is not on my 31-Days movie calendar this year, but it’s still good, scary fun)
