Chefs That are Brining in the New Soul

Hello Friends and welcome to the blog today.

I hope everyone is doing well this Wednesday.  I know that my Monday chit-chats and updates are missing as of late, and while it’s not an excuse for not posting, I’ve been swamped.

I’m not going to dedicate this post to a “what’s happening” but…yes, I’M MOVING! (again). I feel like I was exactly in this spot last year when I talked about moving and the short notice that I was given.  However, on this go-round, the move was my decision.

One thing that 2020 has taught me is that your home space is ERRY-THING.  I needed a comfortable safe place to nest, be happy, and feed my soul.  Since we are in the age of working-from-home, I wanted to make sure that I found a place that was a little bigger, and less shared. New Soul Cooking

Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite chefs, as I continue my homage to Black History month here on the blog.

Food is one of those things that brings everyone together, and even though we may not be gathering to break bread, we can still take to time to prepare a good meal and feed our souls. These chefs are curating delicious meals that are healthy, decadent, and will have you going back for seconds.

Chef JJ

JJ Johnson is a James Beard Award-winning chef best known for his barrier-breaking cuisine connecting the foodways of West Africa and Asia to the Americas. Chef JJ’s signature style of combining culturally relevant ingredients with his classically trained cooking and global point of view was inspired by the Caribbean tastes he grew up with, combined with inspiration from his travels.  [More]

Chef Marcus Samuelsson

I feel like I have been cooking all my life. Growing up, my sisters Anna and Linda and I spent summers in Smögen, on the west coast of Sweden. Every morning I went fishing with my dad, Lennart, and my uncles. We caught crayfish, lobsters, and mackerel, and often smoked and preserved the catch. My grandmother, Helga, would gather us in the kitchen to teach us how to pickle fresh vegetables, and make meatballs, ginger snaps, cookies, and apple jam. These experiences taught me to love and appreciate fresh and local food. [More]
