MONDAY: 52 List for Calm, Life Update

Hello friends, and Welcome to the blog! If this is your first time visiting, I’m glad you stopped by, and I hope you consider subscribing.

If your already part of the family, I’m glad you came back for another post.

Happy Monday Family!  How is everyone on this Monday?  … Me you ask, well I’m hanging in, I’m sad, I’m not … I’m ok at times, then I’m not.  I have so many emotions going through me right now, but for the most part, we are managing the grief in stages. I’m gonna keep on keeping on.

“Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.”  + 1 Peter 5:7

Today I’m still working through my journal and up next is List #7 …

WHAT IS THIS YOU ASK .. LET’S RECAP: These journaling exercises within the 52 List of Calm require you to quiet the mind and focus on your senses.  Maybe a favorite task, smell, or a change in your environment can trigger your calm, and give you balance.

BACKSTORY: 52 List of Calm …

The 52 List of Calm by Moorea Seal is a companion to the 52 List for Happiness Journal.  Here is a little backstory.

FROM AMAZON | For fans of the bestselling 52 Lists series and anyone looking to bring more peace and calm into their lives (and who isn’t, in our current age of anxiety?), this journal includes lists and tips specially designed to soothe the stressed-out soul.

Let’s get into list #7

52Calm_7

This exercise is all about setting healthy boundaries.  I believe the concept is not to let the drama of life bring you mood level down, while at the same time acknowledging all your worries, doubts, or anything that may be troubling you.

For this boundary-setting exercise, I filled all the pages allowed.  With Trinity passing, I have even more stress and tension, and I find myself carrying this around in my body.

I need to allow myself this 10-minute space, to think about these things.  This doesn’t mean that I don’t trust God when I ask for these blessings.  On the contrary, this is about me being human and writing down on a page that I’m concerned about saving for a house, my health, my family, grieving, and a host of things.

And now they are on this page, and I can tuck them away hoping that over time this list gets smaller and smaller.  We are human we have worries and doubts, but I know that when I turn this over God I have to let go of these worries, as I do when I fold up the piece of paper they are written on.

Time does heal most wounds and I’m working through my issues using every medium available to me.  I hope that in time my mood will change as well as my outlook.

What Calms Your Mind …

“Journaling, writing, and blogging, can be the best medicine for calmness. It quiets the mind and organizes your thoughts. It’s been the number thing to help me over some hurdles in life.  Whether I’m talking to an audience of one of 1001, it feels good to get this out of my system, and onto a platform where it might benefit someone else on their journey.”

I’ve taken to creating some digital art to help me cope with my stress, and the anxiety I feel.  When you’re creating something you pour out all your emotions into it and you start to release these feelings into something beautiful.

Do you have trouble calming your mind? Have you checked in with your senses?  Make your list and start with a simple commitment to yourself to be your best self.  With that, I’ll end this here.  Again … thanks for hanging with me today, and as always. — Know Thyself —

Know Thyself Art

It’s been my mantra (or manifesto) at the end of every chat to say “Know Thyself”.  The phrase is not a new concept but one I’ve adapted and held near to me.  Know Thyself has many meanings to people, for me it means know your limitations, know who you are, know your boundaries … know thyself. So of course I made this little piece.

It’s not elaborate, just the simple words on a white background. Feel free to download this 8 1/2 x 11 image for yourself.  If a quote or a few words motivate you then write it down, make it an affirmation or turn it into a printable so you can see it every day.
