Hello, my friends. I’m back after a 4-day break from the blog. I loved my 31 Days of Halloween series but posting nearly every day is brutal. I had fun bringing you all the content for the Fall and Halloween Season.
Now that November is here, and we’ve turned the back the clocks, the colder temps are setting in. We’re also only a few weeks away from Thanksgiving and I can’t believe how fast this year is coming to an end.
Last year I knew I was hosting Thanksgiving, so I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond (last minute) looking for extra baking dishes and accessories. Needless to say I didn’t find anything I needed so this year I’m going to work smarter, because I’m hosting Thanksgiving again for just a few guests.
I’ve curated this wish list of a few staple items that will help anyone dress a simple table and prepare and store your holiday dinner.
Thanksgiving Holiday Essentials
I have a few staples for my cookware but everything goes in the oven. A few basics to start with are a large pot or dutch oven, a large skillet, roasting pan with a rack, and one small pot to simmer gravies or sauces. Some great but pricey brands are Calphalon, Cuisinart, and Viking. A cheaper alternative is Faberware, or Cooks Standard.
Right now you can find deals on Amazon or most of your big box stores, like Walmart, Target, TJ Maxx, and Home Goods. The Cuisinart roaster with the rack is a really good deal. I paid twice as much for mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond about 5 years ago and it’s big and cumbersome, so I may be upgrading.
I’ve been to so many stores looking at a piece here or a piece there but I really need a complete set of bake ware like the old-school Corning Ware, or Pyrex sets.
Place Mats (I found some on clearance at Walmart for $1.97 each)
Mini Wreaths are great little decorations you can make with some garland of your choice and floral wire. Pumpkins can be used as centerpieces or mini pumpkins at the center of your plate add a special touch without having to fuss over your table.
Now that I’ve made this fantastic dinner, I’m searing high and low to store everything. It’s really a struggle when nothing fits or matches and your fridge is packed to the brim. Here are a few food storage items to make things a little easier.
