31 Days of Halloween: Binge-Worthy 80’s Horror Flicks
Hello Friends and welcome to my 31 Days of Halloween. Today I’m listing 6 binge-worthy horror movies from the 80’s.
80’s Horror Movies
Just the mere mention of the campy sometimes over-played horror movies from the 80’s is a testament to my age. Yes I’m an 80’s kid, and believe it or not, I never watched any horror movies as a teen. I was scared out of my mind because they seemed so darn real.
The evolution of horror hadn’t come full circle during this time but it’s definitely a long way from it’s counterpart, 50s and 60s horror movies. Directors and film-makers were experimenting and pushing the limits beyond what your imagination would be. The modern-day horror movie was beginning to mirror real life-horrors.
70’s Horror Honorable Mentions
For my binge-worthy series, I skipped the 70’s but it doesn’t mean I skipped out entirely. Here are just a few of some classic 70’s horror flicks.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre ~ 1974
Carrie ~ 1976
Phantasm ~ 1979
Alien ~ 1979
The Last House on the Left ~ 1972
Dawn of the Dead ~ 1978
The Legend of Hell House ~ 1973
I saw my first horror movie [Nightmare on Elm Street, The Dream Warriors] at the age of 20. I was terrified. This movie was pivotal as to what I thought horror movies were all about and afterward I thought … “is this it?” “This is what I’ve been afraid of all these years?”
This prompted me to go back and look at every movie I deemed scary, and from that point on, I had a special love for the genre.
So here is my list of 80s binge-worthy horror movies.
