52 List for Happiness

Sunday Journal: Chit-Chat … 52 List for Happiness [#31]

Hello Everyone! … and Happy Soulful Sunday.  Here we are … our first weekend in March and how are you? How was your weekend?  I’m here, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, and ready to start another week, with a fresh perspective.  Last week ended on a positive note but I also feel drained as I’m still working out my sleep schedule.  I’m ready to make this week better than the last, and I’m motivated.

I use to think that I was the queen of procrastination … not doing things because I’ve lost my mojo, or making list and plans for projects that never get done.  Yes, there are so many things I want to do, but I also don’t want to miss out on life while I’m knee-deep in closet clutter.  We all feel the need to organize our lives because deep down we know that things run a little bit smoother if you have a plan.  This brings me to List #31  which asks … “List the spaces in your life you would like to create more order and organization in”.

“TAKE ACTION” Focus on purging and reorganizing just one area of your home or office this week:  your work desk, your kitchen cupboards, a junk drawer, etc. A clean, organized space is a quick way to get your mind at peace, leaving more room for happiness to enter.

This is a “take action” that I can get with, and I’m pleased that I’ve already started this process.  This particular list comes at a good time for me because technically, it’s still the beginning of the year, and it’s right before the spring cleaning season.  We all want our spaces to be functional and organized, and it’s a good practice that can spread to other things.

I’m the type of person that can’t function in clutter.  If my room is messy before bedtime, I will stop what I’m doing and clean it.  I literally can’t sleep in clutter.  It also frustrates me when I can’t find what need when I need it … or when I’m always looking for something because my place is in disarray.  I want to be able to grab what I need, I want to be able to work on things without it taking an hour just to gather supplies.  I will admit that I’m a bit anal, and it gives me peace to see things in a certain type of order.

I know that your home is the place where you live, therefore you have a mess or clutter, because that’s life,  and no can tell you what type of living situation that you can function in.  You are the master and commander of your domain.  I know Marie Kondo is really popular right now and everyone is jumping on board, and that’s fine if you’re actually going to stick to it.  I have a small space so having order and organization is a must.  Letting go of things that I don’t need is important because then … as the “take action” says, I can make room for new experiences and I can let happiness enter because after all, that’s the finish line we are all trying to reach.

With that … I’ll close my post today.  Thanks so much for visiting my blog, and with each post in this series, I hope that I can bring some of my happiness to others, because if you have happiness in your heart, then you spread that happiness to others.
