Sunday Journal: Chit-Chat … 52 List for Happiness [List #17]
Good morning friends and Happy Sunday [Happy Lords Day]. It’s been a pleasant chilly weekend + but it’s not over yet because of Veterans Day. It’s nice to really enjoy Sunday without hustling to get ready for Monday. For as long as I can remember I’ve disliked Mondays + and I believe there is a stigma attached to the first day of the week as it is with the last day of the work-week.
This weeks list is a bit different + because yes … I haven’t finished it. It asks to “List the Movies + Books + and TV Shows that make you feel happy. This category is so vast that I haven’t been able to complete this list. I’ve only written a few from each category. This one actually has me scratching my head because some of these shows evoke a feeling + and there are only a few that allow me to carry that feeling that with me.
The “Take Action” says … Tomorrow morning wake up a half hour earlier than normal and read your favorite book + or watch part of your favorite movie + or TV show. It’s so much more fun waking up to indulge in what you love than waking up to do tasks!
For this exercise + I’m conflicted. I know the purpose of what it’s asking + and it basically means … start your day with something that evokes that happy feeling + as this will help you move through your day feeling good. I’m all about feeling good but this exercise is not practical for me + as it may not be practical for most people because we have jobs + or families + so when we get up + time is limited. When I get up in the morning for work it’s a chore + and if I don’t keep it moving I’ll never get out the door. So I don’t have time to start my day this way. I can read or catch a snippet of something during my commute + and maybe that’s the way I have to approach this.
When I started this journal I promised myself that I would have an open mind about the take action portions + but also be aware of what was practical or not. I know that I have to see the upside of things + because when you apply that to everyday life it’s not so daunting. It’s easy this time of year to get caught up in the holidays + or family + or events + but I look at this as a time to slow down and reflect. I’m blessed that I’m almost at the end of another year + I’m thankful for my family + friends + but I also take time for me. I’m the type of person that needs to be alone with my thoughts + and write things down. It’s my therapy + and this allows me to see things from both sides.
So while I may not be able to start my day with one of my favorite shows + books + or movies + I can start my day with some poetry + or prayer + or I can meditate with my Calm app for 5 minutes. With just a little effort + I know I can feed my mind with positivity.
With that + I’ll close my post today. Thanks so much for visiting my blog + and with each post for this list + I hope that I can bring some of my happiness + and or wisdom to someone in need + because if you have happiness + and joy in your heart + you spread that happiness + and joy to others. – [Know Thyself] Wye
