SheaMoisture Baobob + Tea Tree Oil … Low Porosity + Protein Free | Review

I have a love-hate relationship with Shea Moisture products.  Sometimes I love them + but then other times I just don’t see what all the hype is about.   I loved their hair color system + and the first time I used it + I raved about it on an Instagram post + however when I used it again January this year it [literally] changed the texture of my natural curls so they wouldn’t snap back.  It took about 2 weeks just to get my curl pattern back + but by then my temples were gray again + because you know gray hair is relentless.

DESCRIPTION | SOURCE: SheaMoistureThis clarifying shampoo is Sulfate-free to gently cleanse and remove product build-up. Ideal for low porosity curls and coils that resist essential moisture. Infused with fast-absorbing Baobab and Tea Tree Oils, Spearmint and Clary Sage to promote scalp health, and enriched with certified organic Shea Butter to deliver balanced, nourishing hydration where hair needs it most.

I’ve known about Shea Moisture’s porosity line since it came out but just didn’t think it could hold up to the Kriya Botanicals that I was using.  I’ve currently been using this for 2 weeks and here is my honest review.  The shampoo does it’s job + it cleans without over-stripping my hair + and my fro and I genuinely like the shampoo.  I can’t see [at this juncture] how it’s affecting my porosity … but maybe that just means that I need to use it a bit longer.  The smell is light and woodsy which is less harsh than some of their other more overly fragrant lines.  My hair is clean + my curls snap + and I’m ready for conditioner and styling.

The conditioner I’m giving a B because it works + but I’m not crazy about it.  I do feel the difference in my hair in that it’s much softer.  The conditioner has good slip + the smell is great + and in just 15 minutes my hair is giving me life. [Note that times to sit with the conditioner vary due to hair length and type]  I do think that if I had purchased the leave-in styler + and curl smoothie that my style would hold better.  Overall I do like this line + and I trust Shea Moisture.  So final thoughts … Does it help with my hair porosity … [again] not sure about that one + but it is budget friendly + and overall does what it’s supposed to.  Would I repurchase this Yes!  Do I recommend it … Yes.
